We are delighted to announce this years annual Winter Exhibition 2015. This year sees an exciting eclectic mix of works in a variety of mediums which has been curated by LSG's director Marie Louise Jones.
The show hangs in our beautiful Gallery Three and features work by gallery artists, Barrie Cook, Neil Canning, David Martin, Jason Wason, Donald Provan and Doug Cocker to name but a few. Our Winter Exhibition offers a wonderful opportunity to showcase our new gallery artist Peter Wileman .
Wileman is a highly acclaimed landscape artist, whose oil paintings are characterized by a highly expressive, painterly technique. His style is bold and vigorous, both in the use of colour and handling of paint, as he explores the effect of light on his subject. Seeking atmosphere through light and colour, he works in varying degrees of abstraction. He enjoys an enviable reputation as a master of observation and execution, and his outstanding work has been recognised with various awards including the Frank Herring award at the Mall Galleries in London, the Cornelissen Prize, The Clerc Fowle `Gold Medal, The DAS Prize in 2007, The Charles Pears Award and The Stanley Grimm Prize in 2010 and The Dartington Crystal Chalice in 2012.Peter is a past president and Fellow of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Also Included in this exhibition are three very interesting works by Picasso and Braque, which give a flavour of our forthcoming Modern Masters Exhibition during 2016.
2016 is yet another busy year for us on the Cornwall Arts scene . Our exhibitions will showcase emerging talent alongside our established artists so please don’t forget to keep an eye on our new website, which we hope you are finding easier to navigate, so you feel kept up to date part of our exciting year ahead.
Lastly don’t forget to renew your Tate membership or better still it makes a great gift , especially for that someone who has everything…we all have one of them…very annoying!
