In the British Museum sits a harvest jug a beautiful humble piece of pottery and totally without pretensions.

“when i was in my native place i was a lump of clay and diged was out the earth and brought from thence a way. but now i am a jugg became by potter’s art and skiel and now your servant am become and carry alle i will”

Though not jugs neither poetry the use of the vessel and writing

Is ever present.
