I have lived the majority of my adult life very close to the sea.
The landscape of the coast has informed and inspired much of my work, directly and indirectly, from literal views in drawings made on location to many abstract painting series. The endless shapes and wonderful colours, the ever-changing weather, the shadows and light all play their part. The works for this exhibition have been selected from the past twenty years and concentrate on paintings concerned with some of the different series I have explored that deal with coastal themes and ideas, such as ‘Headlands’, ‘Night Sea’, ‘Shoreline’ and ‘Coastal Light’.
